Local Experts
FCPID was awarded a Health Insurance Marketplace Navigator Grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to serve populations in both Wisconsin and Michigan. Consumers may utilize the assistance of our Navigators and Certified Application Counselors (CAC’s) to help provide unbiased assistance when traversing through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Navigators and Certified Application Counselors (CAC) go through a rigorous training process, including special training conducted by both the State of Wisconsin and the Federal Government, to ensure their knowledge of the both Health Insurance Marketplace and general insurance rules. Additionally, a minimum of eight hours of continuing education is required annually, to keep up-to-date with the changes to the laws in the State of Wisconsin as well as changes in the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Populations We Serve
The 2016 Navigator Grant allows FCPID to serve counties in both Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, with a specific target population of Native Americans, including tribes in rural communities.
In Michigan, the counties served include Chippewa, Menominee, Baraga, Gogebic, Manistee, Petoskey and the Suttons Bay area.
In Wisconsin, the grant will be used to assist consumers in the counties of Ashland, Iron, Sawyer, Vilas, Forest, Brown, Outagamie, Baron, Polk, Burnette, Shawano, Bayfield and Jackson.
While the main focus of the Navigator Grant is to assist Native Americans, the Forest County Potawatomi Insurance Department is equipped and ready to help those in the local community with Health Insurance Marketplace questions and applications.
